Tyseley Energy Park and Metering host IGEM members
March 2025

Colleagues from Metering and Tyseley Energy Park (TEP) recently hosted members of IGEM (Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers) for an inside look at the future of clean energy and hydrogen technologies.
Chris Wood, Innovation Lead kicked off the day with an overview of why we’re a tenant onsite, giving details of the hydrogen kitchen and its success, and proposals for future developments.
Tommy Allsopp from TEP shared a history of TEP, some of the current tenants, what innovative projects are in progress and what the future holds. Members were then shown around by Tommy and his colleagues who gave an overview of the fantastic innovation happening and how it could support the UK’s plans to achieve net zero by 2050.
Phil Burbidge then took members to the hydrogen kitchen, where our partners cooked lunch. Phil gave an in-depth overview of why we designed, constructed, and commissioned the kitchen and how it could support development in the industry and validate the integrity and performance of the components installed. Members had an opportunity to ask the Chef questions about how cooking with hydrogen differs from natural gas. They had a chance to sample some of the hydrogen-cooked food while networking before leaving with a bag of ‘Hydrogen Solutions’ merchandise.
The day was a success, with the members leaving with a greater understanding of the hydrogen kitchen and other innovative projects at TEP.
