Bringing enrichment at Birmingham Dogs Home
September 10 2025

Our Metering Engagement Group (MEG) recently spent a day volunteering at Birmingham Dogs Home, supporting the charity in their mission to care for and rehome dogs in need.
The team dedicated a total of 13 hours, rolling up their sleeves to make a real difference. Their efforts focused on two key activities:
Playtime Prep – Every single ball from the centre’s much-loved ball pit was carefully cleaned, ready for the upcoming community fayre. This ensures the dogs can enjoy a safe and fun environment while potential adopters see them at their best.
Enrichment Fun – The team created interactive toys by wrapping tasty treats in towels and tying them securely. These enrichment activities provide vital mental stimulation, encouraging the dogs to problem-solve and keeping them happy and engaged.
The volunteering day was a fantastic success, with the MEG group not only contributing their time but also helping to bring joy, comfort, and enrichment to the dogs.
At National Gas Metering, we’re proud to support our colleagues in giving back to the community, and this is a great example of how small acts of kindness can have a big impact.
A huge thank you to Birmingham Dogs Home for welcoming the team — and to the MEG group for their hard work, energy, and enthusiasm throughout the day.
