National Gas at Hydrogen for Life 2024

National Gas at Hydrogen for Life 2024

National Gas is proud to have been one of H4Life's 2024 Partners. Now in its fourth year, H4Life brings together industry experts, political stakeholders and operators to discuss the potential of the hydrogen economy in the UK and around the world.

This year's event focused on five key themes: the global race for hydrogen, why hydrogen is essential for delivering energy security, the role hydrogen can play in industrial decarbonisation, the role hydrogen (and other fuels) can play in the future of transport, and the numerous investment and innovation opportunities that are available across the hydrogen value chain.

National Gas hosts H4Life reception

National Gas had the privilege of hosting a H4Life reception at the House of Commons in London. We were joined by leading politicians and industry figures, including our speaker and Chair of the Energy Security and Net Zero Committee Bill Esterson MP. The evening focused on how essential hydrogen technology will be in protecting jobs and industry as we accelerate progress toward net zero.

The positive atmosphere and discussion underscored the urgency and opportunity to unlock hydrogen’s full potential. We also celebrated the achievements of H4Life, whose tireless efforts push the boundaries of hydrogen innovation and lay the groundwork for a hydrogen-powered future.

We extend a special thank you to all attendees for making this event a success. Together, we are driving meaningful change and paving the way for a clean, secure energy future.

National Gas CEO Jon Butterworth delivers a keynote speech at H4Life

Our CEO Jon Butterworth delivered a keynote address at the H4Life reception at the Oval in London, joined by Industry Minister Sarah Jones MP, who highlighted hydrogen’s transformative potential as a clean and secure energy solution. The event focused on the steps required to deliver hydrogen at scale, and the efforts needed to meet clean power and net zero goals.

Minister Jones also outlined the government’s ongoing plans to support hydrogen infrastructure and innovation, aligning with our vision of a resilient and clean energy network.

The discussions underscored the vital role hydrogen will play in decarbonising key sectors, enhancing energy security, and providing economic opportunities through investment in clean technology.

Corporate Affairs Director Jake Tudge on H4Life panel discussion

National Gas Corporate Affairs Director Jake Tudge participated in a panel at the H4Life event, focusing on the essential role of hydrogen in achieving clean power and net zero targets.

The panel brought together leading voices from industry and policy to examine the challenges around hydrogen, cross-sector collaboration, and the role of policy in driving innovation and investment.

Thank you to Jane Toogood, Rita Wadey, William Mezzullo and the chair, Natascha Engel, for joining this session.
