I am delighted to introduce this report, which is the first of my tenure as Chair. Without doubt, the commitment of National Gas staff is reflected in our operational achievements and strong performance this year. We made a return on equity of 9.0%, achieved a customer satisfaction score of 9.00, and delivered world-class levels of reliability.

The year has been defined by two dominant themes: firstly, by our work to secure a suitable RIIO-GT3 outcome, and secondly, our ongoing pursuit to secure Britain’s energy, particularly in the face of growing global tensions and continued uncertainty in the world around us.
