National Gas has proudly partnered with Barnardo’s for the past three years, working together to support children, young people and families across the UK. Through fundraising, volunteering and awareness activities, colleagues from across the business have come together to make a meaningful difference in local communities.

As our partnership comes to a close, Richard Murphy, Chief Information Officer, presented our total contribution to Barnardo’s - a special moment and a fitting way to recognise everything that has been achieved together.  

As a final fundraising activity, ten National Gas employees took part in this year’s London Marathon, raising more than £25,000 for charity as part of the company’s long‑standing partnership with Barnardo’s. 

Our impact

Thanks to the generosity, energy and commitment of colleagues across National Gas, the partnership has delivered real and lasting impact. Together, we have raised over £155,000, helping Barnardo’s continue its vital work supporting children, young people and families.

But the impact goes far beyond fundraising. Through donations, seasonal campaigns and hands‑on volunteering, colleagues have helped provide practical support, create moments of joy and deliver essential resources where they are needed most. These collective efforts have helped ease pressure on frontline services and supported young people to feel valued, supported and hopeful about their futures.

What the partnership means in practice

• Easter egg drives – Over 1,600 eggs donated to children across the UK
• Mother’s Day gifts and hampers – Thoughtful packages bringing joy to families
• Safe in the Sun – Providing sun‑care essentials to those in need
• Back to School – More than 200 items donated to help children start the school year with confidence
• Tree of Joy – Over 1,905 gifts donated during the festive season
• Family coach trip to Weston‑super‑Mare – Creating lasting memories for families
• Volunteering at the Frankley Centre – Colleagues directly supporting Barnardo’s services 

The London Marathon runners are just one example of how National Gas colleagues continue to support this partnership and the communities it serves. National Gas is proud of what has been achieved so far and of the people who make it possible.
