Gillian Martin MSP Visits National Gas Aberdeen Compressor Station

Gillian Martin MSP Visits National Gas Aberdeen Compressor Station

We were proud to host Gillian Martin MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Climate Action and Energy, at our Aberdeen Compressor Station, a site central to Britain’s energy infrastructure.

The visit offered a meaningful opportunity to explore how our operations contribute to national energy security and support the transition to cleaner energy. Discussions centred on the role of infrastructure in enabling carbon capture and hydrogen transport, with a spotlight on our SCO₂T Connect project and the potential to repurpose existing pipelines for hydrogen use in power generation and industry.

The Cabinet Secretary was joined by David Marshall, Regional Director for Scotland and North of England, and Jake Tudge, Corporate Affairs Director, who showcased our infrastructure’s role in the energy transition and shared our vision for the future.

The Cabinet Secretary also met with members of our site team, who showcased the critical work they deliver every day to keep energy flowing safely and reliably. Her engagement with the team underscored the importance of collaboration between government and industry in achieving net zero goals.

Speaking after the visit, David Marshall said:

“Visits like these are important opportunities to discuss how our infrastructure supports energy security and contributes to Scotland’s transition to net zero through carbon capture and hydrogen projects. My thanks to Gillian Martin for the valuable discussion, and to our site team for their professionalism and dedication in showcasing the critical work they deliver every day.”

The visit reaffirmed Scotland’s central role in the UK’s energy transition, and we’re proud that our infrastructure in Aberdeen is helping to shape that journey.
