SOAP to REST API Transition

SOAP to REST API Transition

Transition work for SOAP API will start November 2025, with Decommission work running from March 2026 – May 2026

In line with changing Industry Practises and to ensure that our Infrastructure remains up to date and responsive we are moving away from SOAP APIs and adopting new REST APIs for all our Publication Items.

REST API Transition

We want to ensure you have all the tools necessary to support you in the transition from SOAP to REST APIs. We have compiled a comprehensive technical guide, to help you in transitioning your systems to the new National Gas Publication REST APIs quickly and easily.

  • API Developers Portal: Our API Developer Portal holds a comprehensive catalogue of all Operational Data REST APIs. It provides this information to assist users in adopting REST APIs into their systems and contains all relevant configurations of the REST APIs to allow for seamless integration of the REST APIs into their systems.
  • Frequently Asked Questions: Find out more about any Frequently asked transition Questions and the relevant answers that have been compiled to assist you in your transition journey from SOAP to REST API.
  • Gas Data Portal: Under our Gas System Operator (GSO) licence, we provide open data via our Gas Data Portal. Here you will find all forecast, live and demand gas supply, real-time flow rates, storage capacity, margin notices, entry and exit capacity details and much more. During transition work if you find any interruptions in data retrieval via APIs all data can be obtained from the Gas Data Portal as well.
  • Gas Data Portal User Community Webinars: Please find the recording of our latest Gas Data Portal User Community Webinar, where we went through the transition journey for the SOAP to REST Transition Initiative.
