Gas Winter Review

Welcome to the Gas Winter Review 2025/26

Great Britain’s overall gas demand was lower than the previous winter, largely reflecting milder weather and higher renewable output. However, the system experienced sharper swings in demand, with peak daily demand reaching 407 mcm/d during a January cold snap – higher than the previous year.

Supplies in winter 2025/26 remained diverse and resilient, with UKCS and Norway providing steady baseload, supported by flexible sources including Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), Great Britain’s gas storage and imports from continental Europe. These flexible supplies responded as expected during periods of high demand, ensuring the system remained well supplied throughout.

We set all of this out in our Gas Winter Review 2025/26 report here.
