National Gas publishes 2024 Gender Pay Gap Report

National Gas publishes 2024 Gender Pay Gap Report

Our 2024 Gender Pay Gap Report shows that we’re making positive progress in our second year as a stand-alone business. We continue to turn the dial on closing the gender pay gap and remain focused on improvements as we increase female representation at senior levels and roll out our 2025 Belonging Strategy.

In 2024, we reduced both the ‘mean’ and ‘median’ pay gap metrics, thanks to an increase in the proportion of women in the top 25% of earners.

At 1.6%, our mean pay gap is lower than the UK average, which itself reduced to 7.7% as reported by the Office for National Statistics for 2023. In addition, our median pay gap went from -0.2% to -3.3% in 2024 compared to the previous year, representing an increase in the pay gap in favour of women.

National Gas Chief People Officer, Sarah Stanton, said: “Change takes time but I’m confident that at National Gas we have the right plans to build an outstanding, diverse workforce at every level.”

Beyond the Gap podcast

Sarah recently joined pay gap strategist Michelle Gymah on the ‘Beyond the Pay Gap’ podcast to talk about how we’re tackling gender inequality and embedding a culture of belonging at National Gas.

Sarah gave compelling insights into the challenges that come with closing the gender pay gap, and why transparency and accountability matter. She shared powerful personal experiences, highlighting how these have shaped her perspective on equity in the workplace

From strategy to action, Sarah outlined the impactful steps we've already taken to reduce our gender pay gap, and how we’re reaffirming our commitment with our 2025 Belonging Strategy.

As outlined in our 2024 Gender Pay Gap Report, we believe that diverse teams drive better performance, and we’re proud of the progress we’re making.
